Change Management Services
Change is a constant; however, how we manage change can spell the difference between project and program success and failure. Small incremental change is easier to manage. With good communication and effective and consistent leadership practices, change can be incorporated into the organizational culture without too much disruption. Major changes can cause an organization, its employees and stakeholders significant pain, stress, and result in significant disruption. Major changes in procedures, systems, and organizational restructuring require careful planning and execution in order to minimize these negative impacts.
Change is complex, and managing change, in conjunction with major automation initiatives, is not a distinctive process reduced to a series of steps. Rather, what is required is a map of the key issues, and a method of dealing with them. The key issues of this map are the four critical elements of complexity: Linkage, Reach, People, and Time.
- Linkage is the understanding of how the project fits in to the overall corporate program and what each project’s contribution to the benefits realization process.
- Reach: is the understanding of who will be impacted, and to what extent, shapes the approach to managing change within the overall corporate program.
- People: is the understanding that change is all people. It is about how they think, manage, and act. It is about attitude and behaviour.
- Time: is the understanding that people’s ability and willingness to change are key determinants of the project and program time frames.
