Project Management Services

SORDtek Systems Consultants provide independent project consulting. We are not aligned with software vendors or large System Integrator, providing our clients with independent and objective project management support. We provide both short term and longer term Project Management support for either new start-up projects or established projects which need new or replacement project management staffing. We follow good project management practices and procedures which are aligned with ISO 10006 (Quality Management – Guidelines to quality in project management) and PMI (Project Management Institute) Project Management Book Of Knowledge processes and guidelines.

New Projects

For new start-up projects, we provide support and leadership in the following project activity areas:

  • Evaluate stakeholders’ needs and formulate statements of management and/or business problems, and present the findings for review and approval by the stakeholders and senior management.
  • Define and document the scope and objectives for the project, determine budgetary requirements, composition of the project team, and the terms of reference for the project governance and the project team.
  • Develop the project business case, and present for review and approval by the stakeholders and senior management.
  • Organize, develop, and release RFI / RFP documents to prospective COTS/SI vendors. Review and evaluate vendor responses.
  • Develop and manage project budget, schedules, procurements, quality measures, and performance management.
  • Manage the project from project initiation through each major project phase/gate until completion / closeout.
  • Develop team building and team development strategies, and manage the project team to maximize the contribution of each team member and the team as a whole.
  • Monitor and report on project progress during each phase/gate, present status reports to project governance, and obtain approval to proceed to subsequent phase/gate until project is completed.

Existing Projects

For established projects, we can provide replacement for outgoing project management staff members and perform any of the above project management activities. As well, we can provide independent evaluation of the state of the current project, develop strategies to address any current project deficiencies in the areas of scope, budget, scheduling, control, tracking and reporting, staffing, risk management, communication, and sub-contracting review and evaluation.

Projects Management Services:

Project Executive In the role of project executive, we will fulfill the following duties:

  • Manage several Project Managers, each with their own individual projects.
  • Define the problem to be addressed by the project, establish the scope and objectives to ensure project is doable,
  • Manage projects during their startup phase, ensuring good project management processes, including quality assurance plans and processes, are established, and the project is properly staffed.
  • Perform project management tasks in the area of project budget, project risk determination and mitigation, project schedule, project staffing, project communication and project procurement of staff and materials.

Project Manager In the role of Project Manager, we fulfill the following duties:

  • Develop, manage, update, and report on the the following project management activities:
    1. project schedule
    2. project budget
    3. project risks management and mitigation.
    4. project communication plan
    5. project scope and objectives.
    6. project resources and project procurements.
  • Work with the project QA to ensure project QA plan is developed, implemented, and adhered to during the project life-cycle.
  • Prepare project status reports during the project life-cycle, and prepare a project close-out report at the conclusion of the project.
  • Monitor and report on project risks and effectiveness of risk mitigation plans
